Kasumi Arimura will star in the movie and TV drama adaptation of the popular manga "Convicts," directed by Yoshiyuki Kishi, who won numerous awards for "Ah, Wilderness" in 2018. "Convicts" is a work by renowned writer Masahito Kagawa. Kagawa is active in various fields including Japanese film and television as well as manga, having written screenplays for films like "Scissor Man," "Marriage Fraudster," and "The Wood of Sheep," while also creating notable manga works like "Forensic Asagao." "Convicts" began serialization in 2018 and focuses on individuals with criminal records, depicting their stories of reintegration into society. In this adaptation, Arimura plays a protector who assists these individuals; although protectors are government employees on the surface, they are actually unpaid volunteers. The movie version of "Convicts" will be released in 2022, with the TV drama version premiering on WOWOW in the fall of 2021.
