The series depicts the year Showa 17 (1942), when Japan extensively recruited Taiwanese youth from its colony Taiwan to monitor the Allied prisoners of war captured by the Japanese military; these Taiwanese monitors became embroiled in a cold-blooded massacre and were accused by Allied prosecutors of committing the crime of "maltreating prisoners of war." Some of them never had the chance to return to Taiwan, while others came back but no longer spoke of what happened on the island. The entire series consists of 5 episodes and is scheduled to be broadcast in 2024.
