Tall and handsome Tong Tong held a grand wedding with his wife Yue Jingshui on a sunny day. Speaking of Yue Jingshui's father, he is an absolute tycoon in the local real estate industry, known as Building King Yue Tai. Regardless of how the parties involved feel, it is clear what others think: a poor boy, relying on his good looks, has suddenly risen to fame. However, the reality is not as beautiful as outsiders imagine. Having just entered the wealthy family, Tong Tong has not yet felt the glory that belongs to him but has first experienced the strange atmosphere of the Dragon Palace where the Building King resides. Firstly, the gas in the kitchen regularly ignites automatically, and this 'automatic' is in quotes since no one has ever seen the culprit secretly igniting the gas. Tong Tong feels that since he is now the Building King's son-in-law, he has an obligation to catch this black hand causing trouble in the Dragon Palace, but once again, reality strongly undermines Tong Tong's determination. Before Tong Tong and Yue Jingshui got married, Building King Yue Tai had already been riddled with illness and could not even go to the office. The mysterious events occurring in the Dragon Palace further exacerbate the situation, as Yue Tai's heart disease recurs. For several days, blue flames have leapt from the stove, plunging the Dragon Palace into inexplicable panic! However, through all this fear, Tong Tong seems to sense that there is a huge crisis regarding money and power happening within the Heng Tai Group. While mysterious events in the Dragon Palace continue unresolved, a mysterious phone call appears, and the message is just a few brief words: I have returned from the Dragon Palace! Upon hearing this, Yue Tai suffers a heart attack, and chaos ensues in the Dragon Palace. Once recovered from the heart attack, Yue Tai eagerly calls Tong Tong to his side and recounts a story from his past about his rise to success. It turns out there has long been talk that Yue Tai killed the benefactor who helped him achieve success—Ye Yuanqiu—and pocketed all the wealth. Yue Tai informs Tong Tong that the words from the mysterious phone call refer to this old rumor. Encouraged by Yue Tai, Tong Tong intensifies his investigation into the events but discovers that the Building King's empire, Heng Tai Group, is not as strong as the outside world thinks but has long been mired in a financial crisis, leaving Tong Tong puzzled. During Yue Tai's medical treatment in the UK, Tong Tong starts to investigate the company's finances, hoping to find a breakthrough, but encounters numerous obstacles, including someone employing dark powers to stop him, further cementing his belief that there are huge secrets within Heng Tai. Soon, the funding issues of Heng Tai Group come to the surface, threatening the group's survival. Yue Tai hastily returns from the UK to soothe external relations and has a fund brought in from the US to provide support, allowing Heng Tai Group to temporarily weather the storm. With Yue Tai's return, strange occurrences in the Dragon Palace recur. People start to become numb to the ignited gas, and eventually, even the sound of Ye Yuanqiu's laughter appears through a recording, making everyone in the Dragon Palace feel uneasy. Tong Tong learns through investigation that Heng Tai's financial problems are not due to mismanagement but because Yue Tai has invested large sums into futures trading in London copper. Tong Tong is quite worried but feels powerless to stop it and can only observe quietly. Eventually, the anticipated disaster strikes when London copper hits a historic high, causing Yue Tai, who is lost in speculation, to suffer tremendous losses. If not for forced liquidation, he would have gone bankrupt on the spot. Amid the crisis, Tong Tong steps up to oversee Heng Tai's operations, striving to give Yue Tai a breathing space. Meanwhile, the Dragon Palace is truly caught in a storm, and horror events escalate once again. First, a dead sheep's eye appears in a drink, then Yue Tai's beloved parrot is placed in the oven, and finally, a black cat is slaughtered at the door of Yue Tai's bedroom. Yue Jingshui, unable to tolerate the atmosphere at home, desires to leave for the UK with Tong Tong. Tong Tong refuses, and in a fit of rage, Yue Jingshui declares her intention to remarry her ex-husband, forcing Tong Tong to sign a divorce agreement before she leaves. Troubles come in waves as it is revealed that Yue Tai has also been involved in bank loan fraud through dual contracts. Homeowners who have been defrauded storm into the place, and under the pressure, Yue Tai falls ill again and is taken to the hospital by ambulance. When Tong Tong arrives at the hospital, he finds that Yue Tai has not been brought there at all. While in confusion, he receives a threatening call, stating that Yue Tai has been kidnapped and demanding Tong Tong deliver £5 million to London within a very short time frame, leaving him utterly helpless. The police, alerted to the situation, quickly arrive at the Dragon Palace, but after various investigations, there is still no sign of Yue Tai. Tong Tong calls Yue Jingshui, who is far away in London, hoping she can provide money to rescue her father, but she rebukes him harshly and flatly rejects his request, as if Yue Tai were Tong Tong's father, leaving Tong Tong puzzled. Tragedy strikes again as news comes that Yue Tai has died suddenly from the pressure of his heart disease. Tong Tong is in shock but has no choice but to accept the grim reality. In the days that follow, Tong Tong is overwhelmed, and with Yue Tai's death, Heng Tai Group reaches its end, forced to accept a bank asset restructuring. Amidst the chaos, Tong Tong cannot shake the feeling of disbelief and doubt over the fate of the once powerful Building King, who has now met a tragic end. One day on the street, Tong Tong encounters someone who should not be there—Yue Jingshui's ex-husband! Through their conversation, Tong Tong realizes that Yue Jingshui had no intention of remarrying during their divorce; she used deceitful tactics and even created nonexistent doubts. Tong Tong's instincts tell him that something is off, and later, police reports confirm his suspicions. Yue Tai's private doctor was captured during a flight, and according to his confession, Yue Tai had no heart disease at all; everything had been faked, and he pretended to be ill to facilitate futures trading in the Dragon Palace. Tong Tong aligns with the police's perspective that Yue Tai is not dead but is hiding in a place unknown to outsiders. Analyzing the data in his hands seriously, Tong Tong struggles to recall all the conversations with Yue Tai, and gradually, a location comes to mind—Dan Shui, the place where Yue Tai started his journey. In Dan Shui, Tong Tong finds Yue Tai, who is leisurely sipping tea in a small building where he once lived. Yue Tai seems unfazed by Tong Tong's arrival. Through their conversation, Tong Tong candidly admits that all the strange happenings in the Dragon Palace were orchestrated by him, aiming to cause Yue Tai to die from a heart attack due to stress because he is the son of Ye Yuanqiu, the benefactor that Yue Tai once harmed! Yue Tai does not blame Tong Tong nor regrets his actions. He tells Tong Tong that in today's society, everyone revolves around money. If you are poor, you cannot establish yourself in society or realize your dreams. Thus, everyone is forced to scheme against others to fight for their interests, so he does not regret his choices. Tong Tong, however, believes that no matter how society develops, money can never be an excuse for one's shameless actions. The choice is made by you, not money; in this society, as long as you harbor greed, you cannot coexist harmoniously with others. Whether one remains obsessed with greed is a choice they make themselves! Looking at Yue Tai being taken away by the police, Tong Tong does not feel a shred of relief but instead feels a deep sorrow for the degradation of human nature.
