"One of Hollywood's most famous scams" – the "Hollywood Scam Queen" case has been announced to be adapted into a documentary series by Apple. This incident led to investigations by the FBI and police, as well as long-term inquiries by various media outlets, podcasts, and filmmakers. In 2018, media revealed that someone was scamming money through voice forgery, with a global reach, using methods that included mimicking the voices of several high-ranking women in the American film and media industry, such as Wendi Deng, former Sony executive Amy Pascal, Lucasfilm's Kathleen Kennedy, former 20th Century Fox's Stacey Snyder, and Zack Snyder's wife and producing partner Deborah Snyder, among others. They used recordings to scam Hollywood professionals like makeup artists and cinematographers, fabricating film projects in Indonesia and inviting them to work, then demanding payment for travel expenses to extract money from them. Following investigations, it was suggested that the perpetrator might not be a woman but rather a man. Subsequently, the identity of the perpetrator was confirmed as Hargobind Punjabi Tahilramani, an Indonesian man with connections in the UK, known for similar fraudulent activities over a long period. In December 2020, the FBI and the U.S. Department of Justice announced the arrest of Tahilramani in Manchester.
