On the first day of his appointment, Captain Xiao Shaoming of the criminal police in a coastal city encounters a bizarre kidnapping case. The criminal brazenly abducts Chen Xue, the sister of Chen Qun, president of the Jinbai Group, in broad daylight. A few days later, inexplicably, Chen Xue is released without any ransom demands or threats. However, she is mentally disoriented and appears to have unspoken troubles. The police want to apprehend the criminal, but both Chen Xue and Chen Qun refuse to cooperate with the investigation. The case loses its leads, and Captain Xiao Shaoming faces immense pressure. Shortly after, strange events follow: Chen Qun's half-brother is murdered, important documents from Jinbai Group are stolen, and Chen Xue attempts suicide; Xiao Shaoming also unexpectedly suffers the sudden death of his brother and the mental breakdown of his sister-in-law. He suppresses his grief and intensifies his investigation. When a familiar face emerges as a suspect, he feels profound sorrow and pain. The clash of justice and duty puts his soul to a severe test, but he remains committed to his responsibilities as a police officer, zeroing in on the mastermind behind a series of cases. A videotape exposes the mastermind to the light, revealing shocking truths and motives that no one expected, and their final choice leaves everyone heartbroken. Although the major case is resolved, Xiao Shaoming feels little joy. Facing the sea, he is overwhelmed with emotions. His traumatic experiences lead him to a deeper understanding of the complexity of human nature and the necessity of upholding the dignity of the law. The psychological intricacies and emotional struggles of the characters are intricately tied to the case, continuously revealing the crises lurking in the depths of human emotions during the pursuit of criminals. This lingering sense of heaviness and crisis, which does not end with the case, prompts deeper and more profound reflections on the causes and roots of crime, distinguishing "The Law Does Not Tolerate Emotions" from similar themed works.
