The flames of the Anti-Japanese War are raging. The New Fourth Army’s special task force, led by the Communist Party of China, with three thousand soldiers, collaborates with the Nationalist Party's reorganized 39th Division to launch a joint attack on the Japanese invaders of the Sanmu Hongri Brigade. The battle is exceptionally fierce, with the New Fourth Army suffering heavy casualties, yet they remain like a steel nail, pinning down the Japanese forces. The 39th Division launches a strong attack from the side, waiting for reinforcements to arrive and annihilate the Sanmu Hongri's arrogant beastly troops, avenging the humiliation of the Nanjing Massacre. The cunning Sanmu employs deceptive tactics, luring Nationalist General Xiao Zhan Kui into surrendering his remaining troops under the advice of American advisor Frank. The New Fourth Army's special task force refuses to yield, and Political Commissar Qin Rui steps forward, leading one hundred and twenty brave warriors to resist the Japanese, covering the main force's withdrawal. When they run out of ammunition and food, the Japanese military uses chemical gas, resulting in Qin Rui and over a hundred of his men being captured. Thousands of Chinese prisoners of war are taken to Pukou, where a military dock has been newly established to transfer weapons of murder to the interior, plundering the blood and sweat wealth of the Chinese people. Using foreign forces to provoke internal strife, the Japanese aim to have Chinese fight Chinese. After the valiant sacrifice of Division Commander Xiao Zhan Kui, the 39th Division's Chief of Staff Kang Yougen vows to lead the troops to survive. Political Commissar Qin Rui of the New Fourth Army's special task force sees through the enemy's plot and decides to use this as a battleground behind enemy lines, continuing to be, like a steel nail, lodged in the enemy's heart. He is wise and brave, shrewd and strategic, eliminating mutual suspicions and conflicts between the two units, skillfully applying the principles of the Party's united front against Japan, persuading the soldiers of the 39th Division to prioritize national hatred, unite and cooperate to resist the invaders. In the POW camp, a series of heroically righteous scenes unfolds as the Chinese nation combats foreign enemies with intelligence and courage, welcoming the heroic drama of the victory in the Anti-Japanese War. As dawn breaks, after bursting out of the POW camp, blowing up the Japanese military dock, and annihilating the Japanese special forces, Qin Rui, who is responsible for covering the transfer of prisoners, buries the bodies of his comrades, and walks towards the rising sun of 1945 with the rescued orphan, Little Dove. Countless revolutionary martyrs have bravely sacrificed themselves for the people’s interests. Let us raise their banners high and march forward on their blood-stained path! The anti-Japanese heroes live on forever!
