The protagonist of this drama is inspired by the famous singer of the Showa era, Kasagi Shizuko, who became popular with hits like "Tokyo Bukiyuki" and "Shopping Bukiyuki." The story narrates the life of Hanada Suzuko, a girl born in the Taisho era in Kagawa but raised in the working-class neighborhoods of Osaka, who loves singing and dancing and has a naive, romantic spirit. During the Showa period, Suzuko moves to Tokyo and encounters a composer, which significantly changes her life. Under the composer's guidance, Suzuko becomes a popular singer known as the "Queen of Swing." However, after the war begins, misfortunes follow, including her younger brother being drafted and her mother's death, forcing Suzuko to sing patriotic songs while her performance opportunities are severely restricted. During this painful time, she meets a young man and quickly falls in love, yet his family strongly opposes their marriage. After the war, pregnant Suzuko eagerly awaits the young man's return, but when she goes into labor, she only receives news of his death and gives birth to a baby girl. Afterward, Suzuko raises her daughter alone, inspiring the people of a war-torn Japan with "Tokyo Bukiyuki," gradually becoming a beloved popular singer.
