The series is adapted from Keigo Higashino's novel of the same name, with the story background changed from the early Heisei era to the Reiwa era. The protagonist, Sakuma Shunsuke, played by Kamenashi Kazuya, is a capable planner at an advertising agency who derives pleasure from the sense of accomplishment that comes from treating both work and romance like a game. In order to take revenge on a large corporation's vice president who suddenly removed him from a major project, Sakuma collaborates with the vice president's daughter to stage a kidnapping. The battle of wits with the vice president who wants to save his daughter, along with the twisted and dangerous romance with the accomplice daughter, unfolds.
