From a young age, under the guidance and teaching of his mother, Arima Kousei (voiced by Hanegawa Natsuki) made becoming an excellent pianist his lifelong dream, achieving numerous accolades along the way. Unfortunately, when he was 11 years old, Arima's mother passed away, and he could no longer hear the sound of the piano he played, drifting further away from his original dream. In his third year of junior high school, a girl named Kaori Miyazono (voiced by Taneda Risa) appeared by Arima's side, and she played the violin. Soon, Arima was captivated by the talent and passion that Kaori radiated. To Arima's surprise, Kaori appointed him as her accompanist for a competition.
