This documentary is the first "anti-food" food documentary in the country. The history of human civilization is, in fact, a history of the evolution of food. Over the long years, the "food" essential for survival gradually transformed into "gourmet food." Various cooking techniques have made ingredients delicious and flavorful. However, the world is full of wonders, and on the map of gourmet food, there are always traditions of different flavors from various regions preserved to this day. These "gourmet foods," shaped by historical experiences, blend traditions, geography, and culture, becoming beloved by local people and embodying the taste of "home" for those far from it. They also form the unique memories of a city. Nevertheless, these traditional foods seem to carry a different symbolic meaning in the eyes of outsiders: odd, terrifying, unpleasant... The creative team drew inspiration from this and searched for "peculiar" foods across China, experiencing local customs and exploring the relationship between food, region, and culture.
