The documentary is based on the rich成果 of a century of archaeology in China, tracing the roots, origins, and early formation and development of Chinese civilization with a chronological approach. The documentary is guided by the esteemed Chinese archaeologist Yan Wenming as the academic advisor and features a team of nearly a hundred Chinese archaeologists as consultants. The documentary is divided into 8 episodes: "Qin and Han," "Cradle," "Stars," "Ancient Kingdom," "Choice," "Yin and Shang," "Family and Country," and "World." It begins with the integrated Qin and Han dynasties and traces back to the transition between the Old and New Stone Ages, witnessing the ancestors of the Chinese land moving towards agricultural settlement, forming families and societies, establishing early beliefs and cultural aesthetics, and initiating communication among different regions, resulting in the formation of ancient kingdoms and early civilizations. It opens the era of dynasties from Xia to Shang and Zhou, ultimately chronicling the grand, profound, and vivid cultural journey leading to the establishment of a unified multi-ethnic state during the Qin and Han dynasties.
