"In the Depths of Shangri-La" is planned and supervised by the State Council Information Office, and jointly organized for filming by China Central Television, the Sichuan Provincial Publicity Department, Sichuan Radio and Television Station, and Dongfang Fengxing (Beijing) Media Cultural Co., Ltd. The production plans to create a five-episode television documentary series (45 minutes each) and a 90-minute documentary film of the same name. The television documentary will use advanced filming techniques to authentically record the lives of people in the Tibetan region of western Sichuan and the remarkable stories and moments occurring in the natural world, reflecting the laws of coexistence between humans and nature, the integration between different people and ethnic groups, and the conflicts and integrations between tradition and modernity, as well as cultural inheritance and innovation. The film version will focus on the theme of "Humans and Nature" and will reconfigure and retell the most exciting stories from the five-episode series to provide viewers with a different audio-visual and psychological experience. Yan Zhanying, the executive producer of "In the Depths of Shangri-La," was also the executive producer of the previous large domestic documentary "The Third Pole." He mentioned that while "The Third Pole" focused on Tibet, this new perspective on the Sichuan Tibetan region is a natural continuation in creating a series of quality documentaries related to Tibetan themes.
