To closely capture the true living conditions of penguins, BBC dispatched a filming team of about fifty people who spent nearly a year tracking the Humboldt penguins living in tropical Peru, the rockhopper penguins on sub-Antarctic islands, and the emperor penguins in the frigid Antarctic. However, this time the crew came up with an innovative idea, sending "spies" to infiltrate the penguin groups, such as hiding cameras inside remote-controlled penguins or disguising cameras as penguin eggs.
