This documentary is the third installment of a series filmed by director Michael Apted that began in 1964. In 1964, Michael Apted made the documentary "7 Up" for the BBC, interviewing fourteen seven-year-old children from different social classes in the UK, some from orphanages and others from affluent families. Every seven years thereafter, Apted would revisit these children, listening to their dreams and discussing their lives. Now in their youth, the children have grown to the age of 21. The initial purpose of the director was to critique the immutability of social class in British society, showing that children of the poor remain poor, while those of the rich remain rich. Decades later, this notion has been somewhat confirmed. However, life's free gift does not stop there. This documentary series spans half a century and unprecedentedly records the real-life "Seven Up."
