The war in Afghanistan broke out, and a large number of young Americans were sent to battlefields that were like hell. They sacrificed their lives for so-called ideals and justice, while simultaneously taking lives. A unit of the U.S. Army's 173rd Airborne Brigade was stationed in the Korengal Valley, which was said to harbor numerous Taliban militants, destined to become one of the fiercest battlegrounds. During a skirmish, a soldier named John Restrepo was killed, and his close comrades found it hard to forget him, eventually naming a captured outpost after Restrepo.
