Ten years ago, director Ryo Takeuchi left a regret while filming the NHK documentary "Chronicles of the Yangtze River": he failed to capture "the first drop of water from the source of the Yangtze River." Ten years later, having relocated to Nanjing, China, he decided to make amends for this regret. After two years of careful preparation, he set off on a 6300-kilometer journey along the Yangtze River again in 2021, reuniting with old friends. Through Ryo Takeuchi's lens, there is not only magnificent natural scenery but also the sincere smiles of ordinary people and touching stories that bring tears to the eyes. He captured the local customs along the Yangtze's banks and the real lives of its residents, showcasing the tremendous changes in China over the past decade following its economic boom. As a foreigner who has lived in China for nearly ten years, director Ryo Takeuchi hopes to share with the world the true faces of the Chinese people and the real China while fulfilling his ten-year promise. The film version, re-edited by director Takeuchi, will offer viewers a brand-new audiovisual experience.
