In 1924, George Mallory, hailed as "one of the most successful climbers of the twentieth century," teamed up with climbing novice Andrew Irvine to attempt to reach the summit of Mount Everest via the North Face. They ultimately vanished without a trace, and the controversy surrounding whether they succeeded in summiting before their deaths became known as the famous "Mallory-Irvine Mystery" in the history of mountaineering. In 1999, renowned American climber Conrad Anker discovered Mallory's remains in the "Death Zone" of Everest. Since then, Anker's life has been closely linked with Mallory's story.
