The film is adapted from the classic animated series by master animator Tatsuo Yoshida. Speed Racer (played by Emile Hirsch) is the son of Pops (played by John Goodman), a well-known car manufacturer. Under his father's guidance, his older brother Rex became a world-class racer; however, Rex tragically died in an accident during a race. With the support of his girlfriend Trixie (played by Christina Ricci) and his family, Speed decides to enter the International Grand Prix and discover the truth behind his brother's death. During the competition, Speed meets the mysterious racer Racer X (played by Matthew Fox) and the Asian driver Taiyo (played by Rain), who are also looking to take down Royalton. With their help, Speed begins to take on the perilous track that may lead to death. In the quest to uncover the truth about his brother's death, Speed discovers shocking facts that astonish his family...
