On the morning of their fifth wedding anniversary, Nick Dunne (played by Ben Affleck) visits his sister Margot's (played by Carrie Coon) bar, cursing and complaining about his once-loving wife Amy (played by Rosamund Pike) and their seemingly hopeless marriage. Upon returning home, he finds evidence of a struggle in the living room, and his wife is missing. Detective Rhonda Boney (played by Kim Dickens) arrives to investigate the report, and the various clues left at the scene suggest that this is not an ordinary missing person case; it may involve a murder stemming from the couple's fractured relationship. Amy's disappearance quickly garners national attention through media sensationalism and speculation, putting the morally questionable Nick in the spotlight as the missing love of his life subjects him to a ruthless judgment, with their once-sweet words of affection now transformed into a blood-soaked revenge and torment... This film is adapted from Gillian Flynn's novel of the same name.
