Nicole Bonnet (played by Audrey Hepburn) is the daughter of wealthy collector Charles Bonnet (played by Hugh Griffith). Not only is Nicole beautiful, but she is also very smart. One day, a museum in Paris, France, is about to hold an art exhibition, and her father, who enjoys creating forgeries of famous masterpieces, is unexpectedly invited to participate in the art fair. However, the Venus statue, considered a great masterpiece, is actually a forgery made by her grandfather, and her father not only agreed to let the museum exhibit it but also purchased a million-dollar insurance policy for it before the insurance company discovered it was a forgery. Once the truth comes to light, the family's reputation will be completely ruined. To help her father through this crisis, Nicole hires a brilliant thief, Simon Dermott (played by Peter O'Toole), to steal the sculpture. A suave gentleman thief and a clever, beautiful woman, the two unexpectedly fall in love during the heist. However, Simon's true identity leaves Nicole in shock. Famed American director William Wyler collaborates again with the renowned star Audrey Hepburn after the success of "Roman Holiday" to create this light comedy and romantic crime film, "How to Steal a Million." The intricately crafted plot and Wyler's signature ingenious camera work add a touch of darkness and irony to the film.
