Hao Ge, threatened for failing to repay the grain debt to Landlord Zhao, reluctantly took three brothers to steal military rations from a Japanese warehouse. Landlord Zhao recognized it was Japanese military grain and dared not accept it. The bandit Sun Dantaizi, being cunning, didn’t want to buy it, so Hao Ge had to take it home to eat. After his lover, the young widow, discovered it was Japanese military grain, she persuaded Hao Ge to return it. Unfortunately, the Japanese had already tightened their security due to the missing grain, and while returning the same route, a bag he carried leaked rice, leaving a trail. When the sun rose, the Japanese followed the trail and captured several of them. At the execution ground, Hao Ge encountered Sun Er, who was also caught trying to steal military grain. Just as the few were about to be executed by the Japanese, an international journalist happened to pass by, allowing Hao Ge to escape by coincidence and become the captain of the China-Japan Friendship Inspection Team. On the other hand, Sun Er wasn't so fortunate, as he was secretly executed by the Japanese. Hao Ge soon found himself labeled as a traitor and a lackey, scorned by the entire village. Realizing he had been played by the false notion of "China-Japan friendship," he felt estranged from the entire village. In a fit of rage, he teamed up with Sun Dantaizi to kill the Japanese squad leader, avenging Sun Er and redeeming his reputation. The Japanese retaliated by directly massacring Erlonghu Village. Hao Ge and his brothers fought fiercely against the Japanese in a desperate battle. In the end, Hao Ge perished in a final confrontation with the Japanese captain at the military warehouse.
