A documentary about the legendary film master Orson Welles. Directed by Morgan Neville, who won an Oscar for Best Documentary for "20 Feet from Stardom," this film explores the intriguing final 15 years of the legendary director's life. The "miracle boy" who directed "Citizen Kane" found himself in 1970, no longer in the spotlight, becoming a wandering artist trying to return to Hollywood with "The Other Side of the Wind." He spent years making a film about an aging director struggling to complete his last great work. The entire film uses a guerrilla filmmaking style, with Welles and a group of young dreamers facing chaotic situations while navigating with producers and refusing to bow to fate. Welles passed away in 1985, and this unfinished work became one of the most famous uncompleted films in movie history, with the footage sitting in a cellar for decades. "Loved After Death" brings together past collaborators of Welles, including Peter Bogdanovich, Frank Marshall, Oja Kodar, and Welles’s daughter, Beatrice Welles. They share previously unknown insights and complete the life chapter of one of cinema's greatest directors, introducing audiences to this talented, unconventional, and resilient filmmaker.
