The story revolves around a football star card of the Liverpool team's goalkeeper that all children desire to possess. Middle school student Jo's father dies in an accident, leading Jo to become quite timid, practicing his grip strength every night with a hand gripper given to him by his dad to relieve stress. A new transfer student, Mary, is beautiful and smart, and she looks down on Jo's timidity. To impress Mary, Jo stands up to the school bully Tom-Eric, but he fails.
