The film is adapted from the novel of the same name published in 2006 by French writer Franz-Olivier Giesbert. The story is based on a real-life violent clash that occurred in the late 1970s in Jacques Bette, France. Charly Matte (played by Jean Reno) was once a godfather figure in the Marseille gang, and after a long career in the Marseille mafia, he bids farewell to a chaotic life and begins to walk the straight path. For three years, this man, who only seeks to live a peaceful life with his wife and children, enjoys family happiness, believing he can completely leave behind the dark past. However, on a cold winter morning, everything changes. Charly is ambushed, shot multiple times, and collapses in his garage. Doctors find 22 bullets in Charly's body, yet he miraculously survives. Who plotted this murder, and who betrayed him— all the truths will be revealed……
