In today's Japan, there are about 12.3 million active mountaineers. With tenacity and fearless courage, humans conquer one peak after another, but in this process, approximately 2,000 people lose their lives or become permanently disabled each year due to nature's challenges. Near the northern mountains of Okuho, there is a rescue team led by Captain Masato Noda (played by Kuranosuke Sasaki). A former police officer, Kumi Shiina (played by Masami Nagasawa), is one of the team members. On her first day in the team, she encounters a rescue operation and meets the optimistic and experienced mountaineer and amateur rescuer Mitsuki Shimazaki (played by Shun Oguri). With the help of Shimazaki and the team, Kumi continues to grow and accumulate experience, also experiencing the true meaning of life in moments between life and death… The film is adapted from Shinichi Ishizuka's manga "岳".
