The story takes place in Dublin, the capital of Ireland, which is the hometown of Dylan (Shane Curry) and Kelly (Kelly O'Neill). Dylan's father is addicted to alcohol and often takes out his anger on Dylan when drunk. Having lived a suppressed life for so long, Dylan has long lost confidence and hope in his life. Kelly isn't much better; she has six siblings, and their mother is too busy working to care for them, allowing the six children to fend for themselves.
