If the country doesn't love me, what's the point of fighting for its glory? In 1936, Berlin, Germany hosted the Olympics, while genocide was rampant. Sports began to intertwine with politics; the world's number one pole vaulter Gretel was a Jewish German. America vowed to boycott the Olympics if Germany suppressed the Jews and specifically called for Gretel to compete. Gretel, who fled to England, suddenly became a pawn of the Nazi Party. Although she was urgently recalled for training, the national machinery subjected her to various mental and physical pressures, even sending a man disguised as a woman, Marie, to challenge her representative status, unexpectedly leading to complicated feelings over time. Olympic fans can look forward to: the ancient pole vault competition format and the grand scenes of past Olympic airships soaring. The true selves of the two main characters were featured in Leif Stein's "Olympic."
