As spring transitions into summer, autumn arrives. Yoshino Chiaki (played by Kyoko Koizumi) faces problems at work, as the viewership of the drama she is producing continues to decline. Her superior issues an ultimatum, requiring Chiaki to produce a suspense drama, a genre she is not good at. Meanwhile, her neighbor Nagakura Heiwa (played by Kiichi Nakai) is also assigned a daunting task by his junior supervisor—to invite the renowned writer Sakisaka Ryoko to act as the image ambassador for Kamakura's UNESCO World Heritage application. Unexpectedly, Ryoko agrees to Heiwa's request, but on the condition that they have a relationship. Heiwa is troubled and unsure of how to decide. Other members of the Nagakura family, Noriko (played by Naoko Iijima), Shinpei (played by Kenji Sakaguchi), and Mariko (played by Yuki Uchida), are also dealing with their own worries and joys, related to family, love, or work. No adult is free from loneliness; the more one grows, the more wounds one bears. By the age of forty or fifty, one becomes what others label as "old," holding onto principles that others deem unnecessary, but at the same time, becoming "cool" in the eyes of those they cherish. At 46, Chiaki, and at 51, Heiwa, their stories continue.
