Hearing-impaired teenager Zhang Cheng is preparing to transfer to a school for the deaf. However, the world of the deaf is not quieter than that of the hearing. When he discovers the "game" in the last row of the school bus, his excitement about integrating into his new life instantly turns into fear... Witnessing the girl he has a crush on, Beibei, being brutally injured in the game, and the senior Xiaoguang's arrogant and unquestionable demeanor, along with a group of naive and innocent classmates, Zhang Cheng contemplates whether he should unveil the cruel truth of the game or join in the fun. As the lines between the perpetrator and the victim become increasingly blurred, the intertwined pain and unspeakable grievances spread throughout the silent campus.
Emerging director Ke Zhen Nian’s debut feature film boldly brings real events to the screen, confronting brutality while maintaining a gentle perspective. It sharply depicts the complex and tangled emotions between characters, presenting a cruel reality that is hoarse yet seemingly silent. Beibei’s seemingly casual remark, "They are just playing," becomes chilling and painful, a profoundly authentic lament.
