A regular apartment houses a woman named Sayo (played by Sakura Ando) who has lost her husband, and her elementary school son, Minato (played by Koya Sato). Minato is reticent and mature for his age, seemingly harboring countless unspoken concerns. Recently, his unusual behavior has caused Sayo anxiety. From her son, she learns that he has been bullied by his teacher, Mr. Polly (played by Eita Nagayama), prompting her to muster the courage to seek answers from the school. The school's attitude is vague and dismissive, even displaying a biased perception of her status as a single mother. As the situation between both parties becomes increasingly tense, Sayo seems to slowly discover a side of her son that she is unfamiliar with. Along this journey, another boy, Eri Hoshikawa (played by Yota Hiiragi), also gets caught in the whirlpool... This film won the Best Screenplay award at the 76th Cannes Film Festival.
