"A Cappella" is adapted from the novel of the same name by Mariko Koike. It tells the story of 1969, a year when the student movement spread across universities in Japan, marking a pivotal moment in the life of high school student Kyoko. She participates in the movement to abolish uniforms and immerses herself in philosophy and poetry. One day, she meets a university student named Asabe in a café called "A Cappella," and is drawn to his mysterious and melancholic aura. The two quickly fall in love. Together with Asabe's friends Yunosuke and Emma, they spend their days in a cozy little room discussing literature and music, soaking in the beauty of artistic expression. Until one night, Kyoko stumbles upon a shocking scene in the room and sees the void nature of love and ideals.
