The film tells the story of a youthful girl, Anne Frank (Ellie Kendrick), who documents her life hiding in a secret room with her family to escape the Nazis. Two years of life in fear and confusion in the room make writing in her diary the greatest joy of Anne's life. She earnestly records the pains of this bitter period and the precious moments of laughter and happiness, with her thoughts being the only freedom she possesses. Unfortunately, two years later, disaster strikes this family as they are sent to a concentration camp. The strong and optimistic Anne, along with other family members and friends, tragically perishes, leaving only her father to escape. After the war, Anne's father decides to fulfill his daughter's wish—to publish this diary. Anne's final diary entry was written on August 1, 1944. "The Diary of Anne Frank" captures the suffering of people during wartime under Nazi rule, becoming one of the best-selling books, surpassed only by the Bible. The film is adapted from Anne Frank's autobiographical novel "The Diary of Anne." The BBC invited Deborah Moggach, the screenwriter of the film version of "Pride and Prejudice," to pen this adaptation and bring the work back to the screen.
