Lynn (Ellen Barkin) had a very failed marriage. Although her ex-husband has since remarried, the relationship between them remains very strained. Without any money, Lynn lost custody of her son Dylan (Michael Nardelli), and she lives alone with her other three children. Over time, the negative effects of being in a single-parent family gradually show in Lynn's three children, who either misbehave, fall into drug addiction, or become exceptionally irritable. Dylan is about to step into marriage with his fiancée, and he invites his mother to attend his wedding. However, this invitation is nothing short of torture for Lynn because she knows what awaits her will be mockery and ridicule. Indeed, from childhood to adulthood, family has not been a safe haven from storms for Lynn.
