Whether you love him or hate him, you cannot deny that George W. Bush is a leading figure in today's world. As the only remaining super leader, Bush's life has been full of ups and downs, with dramatic events. Americans like him because he stood firm during the storm of 9/11, leading the American people to turn sorrow into strength, seizing the long-coveted Middle Eastern oil fields, and firmly establishing America's dominant global presence. However, during his tenure, he also completely ended the economic rebound created by Clinton and dragged the U.S. and the world into the mire of the 2008 financial crisis; the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, intended to combat terror with terror, plunged the lives of both Americans and people in the Middle East into despair. Commentary on Bush's merits and faults has been abundant, and Hollywood has produced several films about this political figure. However, this film is the first to comprehensively portray Bush's life in a biographical format. This film not only includes Bush's political career from being his father's senior advisor to Governor of Florida and then to President of the United States but also reflects on his wild and carefree youth. Certainly, the film provides ample documentation on the Iraq War, the most controversial focal point of Bush's political career. As director Oliver Stone stated, what he aims to do in this film is to objectively and truthfully recreate a George W. Bush that we know yet find unfamiliar.
