A pair of elderly brothers, K and W, living in the same valley, have not spoken a word to each other for forty years due to unspecified reasons, relying solely on a dog to deliver notes for communication. The entire valley has very few residents, but during a sheep competition held throughout the valley, K's ram wins by a narrow margin. W is quite displeased, and inadvertently discovers that K's sheep have contracted a disease, leading him to report this, which endangers all the sheep in the valley, including those of K and W, with potential humanitarian extermination. Without sheep, K has no idea how to spend the long winter, and W, who is implicated, secretly hides a few in a cellar, but this secret doesn't last long...
