The film opens with the peaceful life of Nazaret, a blacksmith living in the small Turkish town of Mardin, who has a virtuous wife and a pair of lovely twin daughters. However, with the outbreak of World War I, one night, Turkish police knock on his door and take him away from his home, marking the beginning of his suffering journey. After escaping from hard labor, hunger, and the Holocaust, he ultimately gains his freedom and learns that his daughters are still alive, making it his sole purpose in life to find them. From Turkey to Lebanon, then to Cuba and the United States, Nazaret travels across oceans, encounters good people who help him, as well as evildoers and risks, ultimately rewarding his perseverance.
