This film is hailed as the pioneering work of Taiwan's "New Cinema." Four directors created four segments of stories ("Little Dragon Head," "Hopes," "Frog Jumping," "Sign Up") that represent four life stages: childhood (elementary school), adolescence (middle school), youth (university), and adulthood (society). Each stage features corresponding joys from a dream world and troubles from reality, with the balance shifting as one ages. A child saddened by the departure of a good friend ("Little Dragon Boy"), the troubles of an adult dealing with the inconvenience of forgetting keys at home and having to wander outside in shorts ("Sign Up"). A girl attracted to a handsome, strong university student ("Hopes") might also transform in university ("Frog Jumping"). — Life is full of possibilities, and there is no good or bad in any life stage; just live it.
