In the eyes of everyone, Danielle (played by Juno Temple) is a troublesome bad girl. At a young age, her grades are abysmal, and her stubborn personality is astonishing. Helpless, her mother, who is at her wit's end, sends her to a tutoring class filled with all the misfits for "rehabilitation," which makes Danielle even more unhappy. In the tutoring class, Danielle meets a boy named Clarke (played by Jeremy Dozier), and to her surprise, she finds a kindred spirit in this sensitive, chubby boy. Both young people have many complaints about their lives and subconsciously avoid taking on responsibilities. Thus, they quickly hit it off and embark on a journey of self-discovery—searching for Danielle's estranged biological father. However, it is this unique journey that causes a change in Danielle's personality, leading her to contemplate the meaning and value of being a person.
