A skiing accident in her childhood leaves Alice (played by Alba Rohrwacher) with a leg injury that will permanently accompany and change her life. The genius teenager Mattia (played by Luca Marinelli) hides a dark secret beneath his friendly and pure exterior. His intellectually disabled twin sister brings him not pity or a sense of responsibility; on the contrary, he wishes to rid himself of this annoying burden forever, and one day, he actually does. Childhood traumas sometimes bring children unexpected blows. Alice and Mattia, two ordinary yet special individuals, grow up carrying their wounds and maturing. They are like prime numbers in a sequence—cold, lonely, and hard—longing for the presence and closeness of others, yet incapable of restraining their urge to hurt each other. They meet, fall in love, torment one another, and then part ways to find their respective partners, but fate has deemed that they cannot be separated. This autumn, can these two prime-like individuals save each other, or are they destined to face the annihilation hidden in the darkness?
