In 2008, Republican candidate John McCain (played by Ed Harris) competes against Democratic candidate Barack Obama for the 44th President of the United States. Facing a disadvantage in the campaign, McCain follows the advice of his senior campaign staff (including Woody Harrelson) and decides to select a woman as his vice presidential candidate to boost his competitiveness. After a selection process, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin (played by Julianne Moore) is successfully chosen. However, once selected, Palin's behavior and knowledge frequently astonish the campaign team. Although her performance improves after several special training sessions, helping the campaign team achieve some remarkable results, can Palin’s addition turn the tide and change the fate of the McCain team? This film is adapted from the 2010 book of the same name and is directed by Jay Roach, who also directed "Recount," which re-enacted the 2000 U.S. election.
