The film won the Silver Bear for Best Screenplay at the 2011 Berlin Film Festival. 17-year-old Nick (Tristan Halilaj) lives in northern Albania. He is about to graduate from high school and plans to open a small internet cafe to make a living. His 15-year-old sister, Ludina, hopes to get into university and live her dream life. However, this ordinary family finds itself in turmoil due to a land ownership dispute, with their father hiding in the mountains after being charged with murder. According to ancient customs, if a family member kills someone, the victim's family can kill a male relative of the murderer in return. As a result, all male members of the family are not allowed to step outside the house. The entire burden of the family falls on Ludina's shoulders. She is forced to leave school to work and support the family. This new responsibility gradually matures Ludina into a capable person. Meanwhile, Nick becomes depressed and restless due to a long life of "social isolation." Ultimately, this negative emotion leads him to decide to shed blood to settle the family conflict—though this choice may cost him his life...
