The story revolves around a private girls' boarding school in New England, USA, and the coming-of-age journey of four girls on the brink of adulthood. 　　Highlights 　　The film is produced by Tatiana von Fürstenberg and Francesca Gregorini, both Brown University alumni who attended boarding school in their youth, which inspired them to create the film. They co-wrote the script, and the film was initially intended to be a series for the former UPN network; however, the project was shelved due to the merger (in 2006, UPN and WB merged to become the current CW network).
