When love faces life, when life faces war. When all beauty is at its most vulnerable and fragile, the only thing to do is to struggle painfully for the tiny bit of hope that remains. And that little bit of beauty is worth everything. "The Song of Birds" tells the story of the male protagonist Stephen Wraysford’s tumultuous love affair with a French woman, Isabelle, before the war, and his experiences in the army six years later during World War I. The once beautiful love was filled with the crisp sound of birds, yet it left an indelible pain in Stephen's heart. After going through the baptism of war and realizing the beauty of life and the cruelty of reality, he finds hope and motivation once again, just as the war finally comes to an end. Adapted from the novel of the same name by Sebastian Faulks, it tells the bittersweet story of a young couple during World War I, featuring both the bloody scenes of war and a poignant love story. Eddie Redmayne and Clemence Poesy star as the lead characters, with support from Matthew Goode, Rory Keenan, Thomas Turgoose, Richard Madden, Joseph Mawle, Simon Nehan, Daniel Chalfon, Nicolas Moss, Marie-Josée Croze, Matthew Aubrey, Paul Rattray, Misi Dunai, Piroska Molnar, Roland Raffaitin, Clara Grebot, George Mackay, Sean McKenzie, Anthony Andrews, Matt Sabo, Gyula Kormos, and Océane Bersegeay Holliday. The BBC screen adaptation brings to life Sebastian Faulks’s work "The Song of Birds."
