To spend more time with Russell, Kevin brings him onto the team, but soon Russell becomes the star quarterback. While they are getting close, they are accidentally interrupted by a Chinese girl named Ming (played by Ally Maki), who invites them to join a strange club called the "Geography Club," which is said to be filled with people like them. However, as Russell begins to feel that more of his peers need help, Kevin continues to prioritize football, and the two start to have differences... This film, adapted from the bestselling young adult novel of the same name, is a microcosm of American college life, telling the story of a group of vibrant young people discovering their sexual orientation, dreams, and values. It is worth mentioning that Alex Newell, who played the flamboyant transgender character "Unique" in "Glee," makes a cameo in this film, stealing the spotlight.
