Danny (played by Mel Raido) has just divorced his wife Angela (played by Maxine Peake) and, with two young daughters, he is at a loss about what to do next. While drinking at a nightclub, Danny witnesses a fight; years of misfortune and humiliation explode in him, and he decides to intervene in this unfair brawl. His actions catch the attention of nightclub bouncer Lewis (played by Colin Salmon), who is shocked by the strength that bursts forth from Danny's small frame and decides to mentor him. 　　Thus, Danny becomes a bouncer and starts hanging out with Lewis. Lewis not only teaches Danny the proper way to use his fists but also becomes his protector. As a bouncer, Danny performs well, regaining his confidence, and his life gains a sense of hope.
