Burlie Sullivan is a shy milkman who accidentally bumps into the drunken McFarlane, a champion boxer and also a bully of Burlie's sister, leading to a confrontation between the two. A local newspaper reports on Burlie Sullivan's prowess, complete with a photo, prompting the club manager to decide to train Burlie as a boxer. Unbeknownst to him, his opponent has already called for a match, believing him to be a true great fighter, while Burlie's relationship with the beautiful nightclub singer Polly Pringle heats up quickly. He might end up facing the punishment he deserves if he doesn't win this match.
