After the shocking 9/11 attacks in 2001, the United States launched a manhunt to capture and kill the number one target of al-Qaeda—Osama Bin Laden. Maya (played by Jessica Chastain) is a tough and determined CIA agent who is assigned to work at the U.S. Embassy in Pakistan, with the sole mission of finding Bin Laden. Despite her discomfort with the use of torture to extract information from terrorists, she firmly believes that obtaining crucial intelligence is paramount. She dedicates ten relentless years of her life to one goal: to find a needle in the haystack of counterterrorism intelligence and then use it to take down a camel named Bin Laden. Ultimately, her efforts pay off—on May 1, 2011, U.S. Navy SEALs, acting on her intelligence, carry out a raid in Pakistan that successfully kills Osama Bin Laden. Yet, after everything concludes, Maya is left unsure of her next steps... Directed by the only female Oscar-winning director in film history, Kathryn Bigelow, "Hunt for Bin Laden" reunites the team from her previous film "The Hurt Locker" and focuses on a decade of American counterterrorism efforts, detailing the largest manhunt and kill operation in history.
