Amelia (Margaret Qualley) hires enforcer Jackson (Russell Crowe) to help her get rid of private investigator Holland (Ryan Gosling), who is surveilling her. However, during the mission, Jackson discovers that a far more dangerous person than Holland is also watching Amelia's every move. To make matters worse, Amelia subsequently goes missing, forcing Jackson to turn to Holland once again and ask him to find her whereabouts. Later, Holland's daughter Holly (Angourie Rice) joins the operation. As the investigation deepens, more and more clues are connected, pulling an increasing number of characters into this vast conspiracy.
