In June in Tokyo, the continuous梅雨 (plum rain) makes one feel irritated and stirs desires. A housewife named Rinko (played by 黒沢あすか) working at a psychological counseling office lives a comfortable life with her husband (played by 神足裕司). However, despite their love, they do not have sexual relations due to her husband’s obsessive cleanliness. The virtuous and mild-mannered Rinko can only seek fleeting satisfaction through masturbation. One day, a man named Dorō (played by 塚本晋也) is troubled by suicidal thoughts and calls for help. Under Rinko’s guidance, Dorō gradually escapes from the depths of his despair, but then becomes obsessed with Rinko's tenderness. He blackmails her with photos of her masturbating, forcing this traditionally conservative woman to do increasingly humiliating things... This film is adapted from the novel of the same name by director 塚本晋也 and won the Special Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival in 2002, as well as Best Actress (黒沢あすか) and Jury Prize at the 2003 International Fantastic Film Festival in Portugal.
