Actor Jack Wade (Quentin Jones played by Quentin Jones) has a dark past unknown to others. Decades ago, his family was murdered in a small cabin in the mountains of Nevada, with Jack the only survivor. Years later, he marries former Hollywood studio manager Frankie (played by Kathrine Bates). To outsiders, Jack appears to be a diligent actor and model husband, but in reality, he suffers under the domineering Frankie. Later, Frankie falls into a coma and Jack's finances deplete, leaving him unable to cope. He takes his comatose wife back to the cabin in the mountains, caring for her alone.
